FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is the best Hot Tub to buy?
There must be over a thousand brands of portable spa’s and they vary greatly in quality, design and materials. Way too much information to
gather yourself and get a real good understanding of which spa you should purchase. Some people get sticker shocked and run to a warehouse
store with out looking at the competition or to evaluate all options. Most dealers don’t or can’t display all their spas. So these are questions to
always ask yourself and your local spa stores:
1) I have an older spa, how much is a service call to check it out?
Lets start with this question, even if you don’t own a spa it is important to know if your spa company has their own service department or
contracts to outside companies. How much they charge for service calls, and if all they care about is selling you a new one versus having your
best interests in mind. Companies who have invested in their own service department will carry more parts and have lower prices and faster service.
2) Do you sell spa’s within my budget?
If your budget is $2,000, you will simply never find a good quality new spa. So it is important to have a reasonable budget. Most bait and hook
places will either not display their prices or will have a bunch of needed extras that make the spa not affordable. Places that don’t include at
least covers with their new spas should be a red flag!!! Also never pay for a spa in full until it is delivered. So many spa dealers will not deliver
on promises so don’t pay until those promises are kept.
3) How long is the equipment warranty? Shell warranty? And Skirting warranty?
Warranty, Warranty, Warranty!!! Nothing means more than a warranty with no hidden or misleading agenda’s. Often, it is said the best spa is
the one with the longest warranty. This is very true!!! Companies will say their spa’s don't need as long of a warranty because they are simply
better made. That is the biggest contradiction ever! The better spa/company will stand by their product longer. Some companies give a lifetime
heater warranty or something equivalent only to find out it is far from lifetime and companies will use this to mislead you. Some companies may
even say their spas come with a lifetime warranty; but, if you read the small print it covers nothing! It is important to listen to the salesman and
then back up that same information in writing from a brochure or POS and should always be in a supplied in the owners manual. Warranties
mean a lot. They mean you don’t need to be a spa wiz to know which spa to buy. You don’t need to know which shell is the best, which cabinet
will warp or crack, which has better parts. Simply weigh no small print warranty length and you’ll get your answer.
4) In the event of warranty issues who do I contact?
One of the biggest advantages of buying from a local spa dealer is the spa dealer and spa owner relationship. From simple questions to full
blown warranty repairs it is important that any stress or worry be taken off of the spa owners shoulders. This should be the job of the spa
dealer. The only jobs of the spa owner is to enjoy it and to maintain it properly.
5) What are your travel charges for warranty calls?
A question not too often asked, but it should be. If you live in the boon dogs where you have to take a dirt road and shovel snow then I get it.
If you are the average Joe who lives in the supposed service territory of the dealer, travel who!? should be the response. So many people will
buy a spa at a state fair or a local dealer and find out that every time they have a warranty issues it costs them $50 to $500. Good spa
companies take care of their dealers, dealers who charge travel charges are simply double dipping.
6) How long has your spa factory been in business?
A very reasonable question. If a factory warrants their spa the longest but then goes out of business the next day...then what. Most of the top companies have been around since the 80s and that should mean something.

Question - Why is my spa/hot tub water cloudy?
Answer - There are many reasons to why this can occur. Most of the time it is because the water is not properly balanced. Spa water should be balanced in this order: Alkalinity, pH and then sanitizer. Other causes could be a dirty filter, a old filter, scale/scum in the water, metals in the water and old water.
